This poem was written by Chris Conradi's boss and I will quote it for all who might indentify with these thoughts.
There is little else that can stir the soul in the way that the sea can.
How can you not feel you are part of something special when the first light dawns, the sounds of the waves flood into your consciousness and the seabirds constantly sing their song of excitement at the prospect of a new day?
There is little that can equate to the spendor and tranquility of a majestic sunset over bright blue water
How can your heart not skip a beat when your visual senses are flooded with colors that are so intense that they seem almost magical when seen through the pure ocean air?
There are few experiences that drive an individual to willingly place themselves at the mercy of one of the most unpredictable, powerful and destructible forces of nature.
How can one observe the almost unimaginable power of a hurricane or a rogue wave and not stand in awe of the power of the sea yet still yearn to be a part of the experience?
There are those who discover the call of the sea and yield to the beauty, the mystery and the danger
How do we accept the ultimate sacrifice that sometimes is paid by thos for whom the sea means so much?
We just do, in the knowledge that the person we have lost was engaged in one of their life's passions and that their soul passed into the sea that they loved so much.
