Milford Yacht Club Host Boardman Cup Challenge by ECSS staff

Milford Yacht Club hosted it's annual invitational on Saturday August 7. Thirty-three boats came out to compete in the windward leeward course. The winds were from the West with the windward mark East of Charles Island. The course had 5 legs with an upwind finish. Reports from racers indicated that the left side of the course was favored up wind. Boats that went right had less pressure and would have to sail too far to the right to pick up the header. Boats that went left could play the small windshifts as they worked up the course. The event also features the prestigous Boardman cup which is presented to the yacht club with the three best finishers. Competition was close between many of the western clubs such as Milford, Branford and the Windjammers. Milford picked up two firsts with Dr. Evil and Savage . It appears that Secret would be the third member of Milford's team, resulting in Milford retaining the cup. This is uncomfirmed information. So if you know, please let us know at CAK118@aol.com |
