The 53 Annual WSC Overnight Invitational got off to a great start at 5:00pm. with over 20 knots of breeze out of the south. With this kind of air, we where sure to be home before midnight. The course was from Milford to Stratford Shoal, around Faulkner's Island and home. Right after the start the fleet split, Maximus, Secret and XSNRG went right to get a push from the Housatonic River while Jackaroo and Caliente went left. At the top mark the order was Secret then Maximus, Jackaroo, Caliente followed by XSNRG. We had a 25 mile ride down to Faulkner's which was very exciting. We were hitting speeds over 15 knots trying to keep the boat under the kite. When XSNRG rounded the top mark she was just a red/white spec, but with speeds up to 20 knots she closed in fast to take the lead around the Island. With nightfall approaching we had a very bright upwind leg back to Milford from the moon. Secret took the gun at around 11:23pm followed by Jackaroo(Tripp41) a couple minutes later was Maximus(Mumm 36). XSNRG was only about 6 minutes behind Maximus which guaranteed her the win corrected.
